If there was ever a year that I was certain about the election outcome, it was this year. Having observed how the two presidential campaigns unfolded, I was so convinced that Americans, like me, would be utterly disappointed by McCain's candidacy. Come on.... the man may claim himself to be a political "maverick", but he doesn't know a thing about the economy, about what it means to use taxpayers' hard-earned money on imperialist missions in the name of spreading civilization to uncouth corners of the world (like the Iraq war), and about how to run a campaign based on sound policies and good leadership. The politics of anger and fear, manifested in badmouthing and repeated personal attacks towards the opponent is too overbearing.... Such a man cannot be the right choice for the big job, especially at such a critical time. Obama, on the hand, not only possesses clear insights and great vision for change, he also has amazing charisma. His calm manner, mellifluous speaking style, and unwavering message of hope appeal to voters across the country.
I'm so thrilled that
Despite the horrendous legacy that Obama will inherit, I'm inspired and hopeful about the Obama presidency and can't wait to see how great of a president he will become. History has told us that the greatest presidents are those who came to commanding heights at some of the darkest hours and at the bottom of some of the deepest holes (like Licoln (civil war), FDR (New Deal)....)
